Our Preventative Dentistry Services

Nottingham Dental thoroughly believes in the adage “prevention is better than cure.” We believe that all dental issues and problems can be avoided if you maintain optimal oral health and go for regular dental health checkups. To that end, we provide some of the most comprehensive preventative dentistry services to ensure you never have to worry about dental problems. Our preventative dentistry services include routine dental health checkups, oral cancer screening, and deep dental cleaning.

We encourage you to schedule regular dental health checkups for your entire family. During the dental health checkup, our dentist or dental hygienist will examine your dental health. They will examine your teeth, tongue, oral cavities, and throat for signs of infections, disease, or other anomalies. If we identify any warning signs of dental disease or gum disease, we will treat it before it can progress.

Oral cancer screening is a crucial preventative dentistry service for everyone, regardless of their oral health habits. Oral cancer can affect anyone, even if they maintain optimal oral health. However, oral cancer is most prevalent amongst individuals who consume tobacco, consume liquor, or have prolonged exposure to the sun. During our oral cancer screening, we run a series of tests to identify the warning signs of oral cancer. We look for sores around your mouth or lips, white or red patches in your mouth, loosened teeth, lumps in your soft tissues, or other such signs. If we notice precancerous lesions or other signs of oral cancer, we treat them immediately, before they can progress further.

Teeth cleaning, also known as dental deep cleaning, is our most popular preventative dentistry service. No matter how well you brush and floss your teeth, you can’t remove all the food particles and plaque in your teeth. Over time, the accumulated plaque may turn into tartar, which can lead to bacterial disease. During our dental deep cleaning preventative dentistry sessions, we use a scaler to remove all the accumulated plaque and tartar. We also use fluoride treatment to protect your teeth from further bacterial decay.

Intraoral Cameras

Intraoral cameras are small wand-like devices that dentists insert into your mouth or oral cavities. The device displays high-quality videos and images of your oral cavities on a computer screen. This allows us to diagnose dental issues based on anomalies in your oral cavities.

Digital X-Rays

With Digital X-Rays, dentists can take accurate x-ray images of your teeth and mouth with 90% radiation than traditional film x-rays. This makes digital x-rays far more effective and safer than traditional x-ray imaging methods.

3D Imaging Scanners

3D Imaging Scanners are used to generate 3D colored models of your face, neck, and teeth. You have to sit on a dentist’s chair and the device revolves around your head, scanning your face, teeth, and neck. With the 3D model, dentists can diagnose the minutest of anomalies and treat them before they get worse.

Soft Tissue Lasers

Soft Tissue Lasers are used to treat wounds, lesions, bumps, and other anomalies on soft tissues like gums, lips, cheeks, and tongue. They’re also used in cosmetic procedures like gingivoplasty to contour gums.

Hard Tissue Lasers

Hard Tissue Lasers assist in procedures that affect your teeth and other hard tissues. The laser can be used to modify your tooth’s structure as well without causing any pain or discomfort. It has a lot of applications for both cosmetic and restorative dentistry.

Our State-of-the-Art Technology

All dental clinics should be modernized and advanced with the latest state-of-the-art technology. Dental procedures keep changing thanks to modern technological innovations — a procedure that may have been a standard-bearer a few years ago may now be rendered obsolete by far more advanced procedures.

Older dental procedures also worked, but they were generally more time-consuming, lead to complications, and had high recovery times. Modern technological innovations make dental procedures far more effective, accurate, painless, and lead to no downtime. At Nottingham Dental, we always stay ahead of the curve, which is why we use the latest dental procedures and technologies. The following is a brief overview of our dental technologies.
